Our people
Since its launch CORDA has made significant achievements which have been recognised throughout the world. These have been made possible through the dedication of CORDA's patrons, presidents, chairmen and trustees, and those who work tirelessly on research projects.
The CORDA Magnetic Resonance Unit, in particular, has played a leading role in the research and understanding of the nature of heart disease and the detection of its early onset. The staff at this Unit, which is based at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, have dedicated their lives to this cause. Without them, these successes simply would not have been possible.
Founders
CORDA was founded in 1976 by Professor Donald Longmore and John Stephenson. Professor Longmore retired from the Board in September 2007 and became our Foundation President. In January 2009 Mr Stephenson also retired from the Board, and became Joint Foundation President with Professor Longmore.
Our patrons
The ultimate recognition of CORDA's work came in 2005 when Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra, The Honourable Lady Ogilvy, agreed to become its Royal Patron.
