On the 9th August Gosfield Lake and the charity CORDA have teamed up to organise a once in a lifetime opportunity to take part in an open water swimming masterclass with British Olympic hopeful and two time Commonwealth Gold Medallist, Ross Davenport (view the facebook event). CORDA is a pioneering charity, dedicated to the early diagnosis and treatment of heart disease and stroke.

Cardiovascular disease is the main cause of death and disability for men and women. Nearly half of the UK will die from the disease, usually by suffering a stroke or heart attack and probably without showing any symptoms beforehand. More people will die of cardio-vascular disease than cancer. CORDA, a charity set up to support clinical research into the prevention of stroke and heart disease, funded the world’s very first cardiovascular magnetic resonance scanner, which provides more powerful pictures of the body than any other technique and can be used to give early diagnosis of coronary heart disease and help identify people at risk. With this early detection of the disease it can be prevented, stopped or reversed.

All money raised will go directly to CORDA and be used to fund further heart research projects.

When: Tuesday 9th August (6pm-8pm)
Where: Gosfield Lake Resort, Church Road, Gosfield, Halstead, Essex, CO9 1UD

CORDA are hoping for fifty plus swimmers of all ages to take part and raise money through sponsorship and donations to CORDA’s Just Giving page. justgiving.com/cordagosfieldgswim
